We had Orphan Sunday at our church this week and Elle made the poster above for our Orphan Care table. When I brought it in the house on Saturday night Levi became so upset. He said, "Oh, no, oh, no--baby hurt!" over and over. So, to comfort him I told him that we can pray for that baby. Well, he stopped right then and stood in front of the picture, folded his little hands in prayer and began praying from his 20 month old heart for the child in front of him. He prayed, "God, baby hurt--give daddy...and mama...and AAAllle (Elle) and NaNa (Nash) and MattMan (Nash's friend, we love as our own). And he prayed that over and over, then he said, "No starvin God" and threw his arms in the air "Amen!" By the time he finished the whole house was standing around him watching in amazement at how this little child of God was so connected to the needs of the child in the picture. He knew exactly what that baby needed...he didn't hesitate in asking God to do it and he finished with the confidence that everything was going to be OK.
How does he know that the cry of every child's heart is for a family who will love him and for the basic needs of comfort? Does he remember being left by his birthmother? How does he, with all the luxuries of his life now, so closely identify with the suffering of the child in the picture?
It's because he is blessed. "But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear." Matthew 13:16

Psalm 8:2 "From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise because of your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger.
What an amazing story. Thanks for sharing it!
Oh my goodness. Thank you for sharing this. I actually posted his comments on my blog. I will pray for his continued healing and bonding and that none of us will ever forget to pray "No Starvin God" each day!

Unbelieveable. I'm in total amazement of Levi's tender and articulate heart.

What an amazingly gifted child!! I"m so glad he's going to grow up and be friends with Georgy!! :) I'm so sad to have to miss that event at your church. I just couldn't work it out with Will to get all four to church by himself without me!! I just finally gave up and decided it wasn't the time to leave everyone that day ;) Thanks for your sweet comments...and yes, I'm phone obsessed right now!! Kristi
oh wow. that is awesome. what a sensitive kid he is. wow.
WOW! I am in awe. What a powerful story perfectly illustrating what the Bible calls a "child-like faith". Levi's expectant prayer fully trusting that Father God will provide! Thank you for sharing. I am so moved! Love, Kim
I can't wait to see what God has planned for his life - I love how it is unfolding even at 20 months!
This is especially gut wrenching for me having just returned from an orphanage in Zimbabwe. Wow...your precious Levi. I would so love to meet him!
Tracy,
We are at the very beginning stages of adopting from Ethiopia and Shelley sent me to your blog. We have been discouraged in the process and your blog was encouraging. Thank you.
I'm speechless. Wow.
I am adopting from Ethiopia (almost finished with our dossier)and found your blog. I am encouraged to see your beautiful child wrapped in your arms. We can't wait. Are you in the Dallas area? I would love to connect with other moms in the Dallas area?

Wow! What a god moment! That's as good as the Jesus story on our end. These little ones truly have been touched by Him.
Out of the mouths of babes...so humbling that he can pray for those needs out of a desperation that we may never know.
