wow. I have always been a fan of John Piper and this video shows why. He's real and true to the teachings of Jesus. "Normal Christianity is pain." What a wonderfully true statement. We weren't made for our own pleasure.
Thank you for sharing this and for sharing your story of faithfulness to God's children. We are in the process of adopting a baby boy from Ethiopia ... still in the beginning stages - but very excited to be following Jesus in this way!!
AMEN!!We just haven't been placed on this Earth for OUR own glory and pleasure but for God's glory and presence and power to come THROUGH our lives.There's much REAL treasure and riches among the"poorest of the poor" on this earth.--they "get" God's heart.How much we have to learn from them! Our distractions could be lulling us away from growth, maybe from finding the way of salvation ALL together--as we try to BUY the light of God. Many times,God's not found on a tee shirt or in another fund-raising campain at a lovely venue. He just may want nothing to do with a superficial " I'll talk with you tomorrow and write that check for those hungry kids" after gorging on reality T.V. all night. God is easily found in the "low" and the pure places of this Earth! Read Heavenly Man by brother Yun to get a sense of this or the writings of Corrie Ten Boom--or THE WORD of GOD--and then don't just listen but do what it days!You'll be blessed! What can we not walk through for Him? What are we choosing to NOT walk through and instead choosing pleasures,wealth building, or entertainments? Its just so serious--many people in the church need to WAKE up to this false teaching!!Wake up before the bridegroom returns for His investments here!!Thanks, Tracy!--Love, Gillian
