I Called

Day 5 being at home and I have to stop to catch my breath!  The past couple of days have been rough.  There are so many things I need to catch this blog up on, but I just have to share what my sweet Mercy wrote to me this morning in church.

During worship she handed me a note that read:
I called
you answered
my God to my rescue
Lifted

The worship song was saying exactly what her heart was and she had to write it down in her order of words.  I understand exactly what she means!

Her next note read:
Mama high are become
me you welcome
Mama I love you.

Our English is coming along.

minutes after meeting

HOME!

So much more to come!!

He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap;
He seats them with princes,
with the princes of their people.
Psalm 113

Who is calling for you???

Now I get it. Just the word Mercy mentioned during a worship song during your waiting for them to come home would bring me to tears. This girl is a worshiper. Words mean something to her, and clearly so does her mama.

I don't want things to be rough. Praying that things fall into place right away.

This is so beautiful. Your family and your love for God is so beautiful. Your obedience is beautiful. And the redemption that the world can see happening through your family is BEAUTIFUL. Oh, I cannot wait to meet your kids in person. I am thinking of you and praying for you constantly. I cried tears of joy when I saw pictures at the airport of everyone in their Go Seek Love shirts. I was beyond disappointed to not be there. If it's OK, I would love to come by later this week. I don't want to crowd you, though. I know that things are crazy. I'll be in touch.

I wanted to say, "Welcome Home". I haven't had the pleasure of meeting you, though I have received e-mails regarding you family from Greg at Grace Chapel. We've been attending there less than a year, so we haven't put faces to all the names, yet (and it's a big church!). We brought home our daughter from India in October.

All that aside, I had to tell you something incredible. A friend of ours, Jessie, is a professional photographer. She felt led to accompany us to India and be photojournalist in our adoption. This led to an opportunity to go along with a family to Ethiopia and Uganda. They're currently there serving, and since they have not picked up this family's son yet, she posted a photo that was taken by another family on their trip to Ethiopia.

The caption read something like, "here is the son that the Cross family is adopting. He's on the left. This picture was taken by a family that just brought home their 4 children from Ethiopia".

!

Again, while I haven't met you, I know your family's name and asked Jess to ask Wendy if it was the Mihnovich family. In all caps, she responded, "YES! OH MY GOODNESS"!

I had to smile. The adoption community is a never-ending roll of miracles, blessings, and joyous surprises! We will have to meet some time.

For now, I pray that you recover from travel well and begin sorting out your new routine, and "new normal". We've just hit our 4 month mark with having Dorothy home, and it is a really good place. Routines feel settled, she is more comfortable and we have been brought SO FAR.

I have to say that your youtube with Levi was the first adoption video I ever saw, and I go back from time to time to help remind my mind and my heart that this is really happening for us. I am blessed by you and your family and by being able to take part in your journeying.
The gifts we receive from our Heavenly Father through the Love He pours out on us never ceases to amaze me. Here you are knowing His hand is upholding you, hearing His voice from behind directing you, and yet He continues to give you sweet confirmation in the beautiful words of your daughter. May His grace overflow within you and yours as you enter in this new season with your family.

We are considering taking our bio children with us to Ethiopia when we pick up our daughter. The agency is discouraging this, and I just wondered if you would have a moment to share your experience as far as how it went taking your older kiddos. Thanks!
