For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth.)
Ephesians 5:8-9
So, I've heard a few times that if I keep telling it like it is, then no one will want to adopt older kids anymore.
I have to tell you that this idea expresses a complete misunderstanding of what adoption in all about.
When families adopt, (as God does), we don't set out to take the path of least resistance.
My friend Emily always says, "Adoption is NOT for sissies!"--- is that t-shirt ready yet, Em?
We don't adopt to do a good deed and help those poor kids out. We don't spend all our savings, our college funds, sell everything we can and invite all of our friends to join in-- because we are looking for the easiest child to raise, who will cause us the least inconvenience.
We adopt because there are 147 million orphans in the world who are crying out night and day for a family-- a savior-- and life. We adopt because we know that whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.
We adopt because our God commands us to care for the orphans and widows. We adopt because to whom much has been given, much, much will be demanded.
I'm amazed and thankful every day that God entrusted us with our children. It is a privilege to experience His heart through their suffering and redemption. There can be no other way. Adoption IS the gospel.
And I'm sharing it all because if we are children, then we are heirs--- of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in His sufferings----in order that we may also share in His glory.
He is in the business glorifying Himself--- of going to the desert and bringing His children back Himself. He is able to save completely those who come to God through Him, because He always lives to intercede for us. Thank you so much to everyone who prayed for our lost little lamb. He has come back from Egypt--- and here's how---
After not speaking to me for a while-- unless he had to.-- He came to me one morning and said he wanted to talk to me. I was so happy. So, after ESL summer school we had a talk and he told me about his dreams.
He said that he had not prayed in 5 days--- that they were sad, bad days. I would go to him and pray for him, but apparently he wasn't praying with me.
Anyway, he said Jesus came to him in a dream and told him, "Go and talk to your mother, she loves you." He told Jesus, no, he didn't want to. He said Jesus said it again and he ignored him.
The next night, he had the same dream again--- he said he was so scared because it was exactly same dream and Jesus said the same thing. "Go and talk to your mother, she loves you." He said he was so scared of God.
--in the fear of God way--
He said Jesus told him, "Look behind you," and he did and saw Ethiopia. Then Jesus said, "You have no family there, your family is here."
He also said Jesus told him to keep reading his Bible and that it was not written by man, but by Him.
He wanted me to read out loud all the scripture Jesus led him, to--- Matthew 7, John 16 and 1 Peter 2:9. So awesome--
God means what He says y'all.
We've had visits in our house from Jesus, angels and demons. It's all real. It's all happening all the time. We get way to preoccupied with ourselves and our stuff in this culture to see it--- that doesn't mean it's not happening.
God says it is.
But you are a chosen people, a royal priest-hood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of Him Who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.

Amazing. God is so powerful.
Keep telling it like it is! Those who have ears to hear will listen. When Jesus said, you must eat of my flesh and drink my blood, he lost many disciples. Those who heard him said, these are hard sayings who can hear them. We are like friends in a market place... we have been piped to and we have not danced, we have heard morning we have not lamented, etc. We "american" Christians have been given everything and yet we do not have ears to hear the true heart of God. Shame on us.
Amen, Tracy! Thank you for being so transparent and for allowing others to walk with you through the good times and the difficult ones. Thank you for speaking truth about the purpose of adoption. It was great to meet you Sunday afternoon, and I look forward to seeing what God does in and through your family!
Thank you for this! Thank you for this! Thank you!!!
I felt the power of this. Thank you.
Tell it, Tracy. Tell it over and over and in any way people will listen. Adoption is the gospel. It is. It is as hard as it is glorious--just like the gospel.
This is a repost for sure.
oh, this made me cry...I love all your kids...I love reading "the truth"...keep it up...so awesome...I read that " the truth won't scare someone else from adopting IF they are truly following God's calling on their life..they will still adopt whether someone else had a difficult time OR NOT IF they are living out what God has called them to do...The truth can only empower them and prepare them for any difficult days they may face" thought it was appropriate here :) beautiful post as always, kj
This is seriously one of the best posts I have ever read. I am planning on rereading it. Thank you for being so honest about your journey and about our lives in Christ. I really cannot tell you how powerful your words backed by God's words are! I was truly in tears. Could I possibly add your blog to mine and encourage people to read your posts? God is using your blog and heart to change others!!
I wish I could cut and paste this into my blog! BEAUTIFUL! (on wordpress, started telling our story of our darling Benjie)
We adopted an older child who was full RAD and have to tell the horrors in order to share the awesomeness of VICTORY IN JESUS that we experienced!!
Bless you for sharing and dont leave out a thing!
Hugs and prayers, Diana

Praise God!
Wow, Tracy. Your words are true and powerful!! I love 1 Peter 2:9! Out of darkness and into His wonderful light!! It definely scary and dark in Egypt. So glad the Lord called YOU to bring them out- it's always been in you and Jimmy to go above and beyond!
Love you all,
Norma

PLEASE keep telling it like it is! There is NOTHING about adoption that is easy, but then again there is nothing about me that is lovable, redemptive or easy to change and yet HE loves me anyways. That is why we adopted, because if He can love us and we are to be like him, then we will love those that He has put in our care, broken and all.
Thank you Tracy for speaking the truth here. I've followed your blog for a while ( I traveled to Ethiopia with Missy) and I love your heart for the orphan and your boldness in speaking God's truth. We have had many visits in our house too from Jesus and the enemy. It is warfare when we bring these kids home, but isn't it awesome in a way that what you are doing is so "right on" that Jesus visits your children himself?
PLEASE keep telling it like it is!
What a beautiful post, thank you for sharing that.
I found your blog through Lucy Lane's and have been incredibly blessed. First of all, for your heart for adoption. Secondly, for your walk with Jesus and belief in the supernatural...plus being willing to blog about that! I loved the line about angels and demons and experiencing both. Keep telling the truth. Spiritual warfare is real and the closer we walk with the Lord, the more we do His work, the more blessings and attacks we experience! This post has encouraged my heart toward adoption even more!! Yes, you MUST keep telling the "dark" side so that the LIGHT of Jesus will shine even brighter!
Much Love,

So happy to hear this, we are celebrating with you! Love you!
Please! Keep telling it like it is, it's helpful for those of us going through it to know that we are not alone. Thanks.
Thanks, Tracy, for getting back with me about adding your blog to my list. (I am new at this blogging and don't quite know the etiquette for sharing!!) I am also becoming a big Piper fan...I think he, like you, is right on about our walk with Jesus and sacrifice!! I am looking forward to reading your next posts.....no pressure!!!:)
isn't that just like God to show every single one of us He is here among us speaking to us, and through yor son, soooo cool! luv it :) we are praying!!!!!!
